WHAT IS A FAN-FILM?
We define a “fan-film” as any short or feature produced from ideas and characters created by someone else and for whom the producer of the film does not have the rights to. These films cannot legally be sold for monetary gain and usually feature recognizable characters or are based on famous literature and films. These are not films not necessarily based on characters in the “public domain” but sometimes they are. Most of these films are made due to the love of the film-makers behind them and the cast & crew attached to them and usually can be found for free on You Tube, Facebook, and other social media platforms.
